Views on your Google Business Profile mean people saw you in Google Search or Maps. They don’t mean people chose you. Most people compare two or three businesses and call the one that looks most trustworthy and easiest to reach. If your views are high and calls are low, check these things.
1. Your phone number
- It’s correct and someone answers it during your listed hours.
- It’s the same number as on your website.
- If you miss calls, your voicemail says who you are and that you’ll call back.
2. Your categories
Your primary category should describe your main service as precisely as possible, for example “Painter” rather than a general contractor category if painting is most of your work. Add secondary categories for other real services.
3. Your hours
Accurate hours, including holiday hours. If your profile shows you as closed, many people won’t call.
4. Your photos
Real, recent photos of your own work, your truck or your team. Stock photos and old pictures make a profile look abandoned.
5. Your reviews
- Recent reviews matter, not just the total.
- Reply to reviews, including the critical ones, briefly and politely.
- Ask happy customers for a review after each job. Never buy or write fake reviews; it breaks Google’s rules and can get your profile suspended.
6. Your services and description
List your services and the areas you serve. Write the description for a customer, not for a search engine. Don’t add keywords or city names to your business name; that also breaks Google’s guidelines.
7. Where your website link goes
Many people tap “Website” before they call. If your site is slow, has no tap-to-call number or no quote button, they leave from there. Why sites get visits but no calls.
How to see what’s working
Your profile’s performance section shows calls, website clicks and direction requests from Google. Compare those numbers month to month. For calls and quote requests from your website itself, set up simple tracking.
Want me to check your site?
Send me your website. I’ll look at it on a phone and reply by email with what I’d fix and the price. No call needed, no obligation.
